In terms of efficiency and energy transfer, study these things that are working during the connected lag:

• The lead arm works up helping the bat move from a vertical plane to the shoulder plane

• The bottom hand also flattens to facilitate this vertical to shoulder plane adjustment

• Rear elbow draws back to get the hands closer the rear shoulder AND flow the barrel back (Bonds does this as well)

• Rear elbow works down getting rear forearm into a good "transfer" position that matches spine angle
